In sheet metal processing, press riveting process is often used, especially in the chassis and cabinet industry. Press riveting process is used to sink the ruler teeth of the nut into the plate through cold extrusion, and the hexagon surface of the stud and the toothed circular surface of the screw into the plate. Of course, there is a prerequisite that the material of the nut screw stud is generally harder than the plate material.
Firstly, the hole size of the press rivet nut (normally 5-10 threads larger than the nut's step)
M3 nut - normal opening 4.25mm
M4 nut -- normal opening 5.43mm
M5 nut - normal opening 6.38mm
M6 nut -- normal opening 8.77mm
Hole size of press rivet stud (normally 5-10 threads larger than the outer diameter of the stud)
M3 stud -- normal opening 4.2mm
M4 stud - normal opening 7.2mm
M5 stud - normal opening 7.2mm
M6 stud -- normal opening 8.8mm
Hole size of press riveting screw (normally 5-10 threads larger than the screw thread size)
M3 screw - normal opening 3.05mm
M4 screw - normal opening 4.05mm
M5 screw - normal opening 5.05mm
M6 screw - normal opening
